[Deadcraft.Com]: Odin Sphere: Gwendolyn and Oswald Dolls Odin Sphere was my favorite game of 2008. Okay, so maybe God of War 2 was my favorite game of 2008, but this was a very, very close second. Ingway is possibly the most adorable character that no one has ever heard of. So you can say that this was something of a labor of love, because I nearly broke my brain making two of its five main characters, Oswald and Gwendolyn. Not since my Valkyrie Profile Lenneth Valkyrie doll had there been so many details that I'd willingly made on something roughly 4 inches tall. I'm pretty happy about how then result is though, although Oswald's armor was harder to imagine than Gwenolyn's feather-and-armor affair.

[Deadcraft.Com]: Gensomaden Saiyuki Dolls

I've already mentioned making my little Genjo Sanzo doll, and have even showcased him in an earlier post - so I figured, why not make the whole gang instead? I remember being absolutely hooked on this TV series not too long ago, and while Saiyuki Reload and Saiyuki Reload Gunlock were good enough, Gensomaden Saiyuki was the series I always adored. Genjo Sanzo - the only Buddhist priest who smokes, drinks, plays mahjongs, shoots at people, is nastily rude, doesn't care whether his friends lived or died, is unrepentantly trigger-happy, and still POPULAR.

Sha Gojyo, possibly the only kappa character I am aware of in the history of anime, and he has a sob stepmama-tried-to-kill-me story to go along with it. Who can't resist a redhaired kappa with a sobby stepmama-tried-to-kill-me story?

Cho Hakkai - I notice that with each character the angst just increases like a thousandfold. Hakkai's the obligatory human-turned-demon of the main cast, and he had to do so in order t save his beloved, who'd been carried off by lusty demons. He failed, by the way. Ouch.

Son Goku - the most annoyingly 500 year old brat demon ever. Also the most powerful of the quartet, how's that for irony?

[Deadcraft.Com]: Tim Burton's Nine Doll In honor of the awesome new Tim Burton movie out, here's my version of its main character, the lovable Nine doll (voiced by Elijah Wood)I tried to get most of the details as I was able to, and I'm proud of actually being able to scrounge up some push buttons for the eyes, especially. This is deviating slightly from most of my other dolls in that this is roughly 6 - 7 inches high, with a pattern I made up on the spot while I was crocheting. And on a slightly related note, anyone as excited over the new Alice in Wonderland animation coming out as I am, too?

[Deadcraft.Com]: King of Fighters Dolls I blogged previously about having made a Terry Bogard doll for a happy customer, and a bit more customers emailed and wanted me to do more King of Fighters dolls. I get emails from people a lot, including but not limited to more doll-making, world peace, and complaints regarding my inability to pull up my pants. Since I have the capability to do only one of those three things mentioned, I figured why not? But of course, since this IS King of Fighters, there should be some poorly Photoshopped parody photos made by yours truly lurking about this entry, and here they are:

Kyo Kusanagi - easily the lead of the whole fighting franchise. He wears white bandannas, can shoot fire out of his hands (Among other things), likes long walks on the beach with Yuki, and particularly hates the Yagamis. He also likes hanging around with guys with gravity-defying hair whose name ends in -maru.

Blue Mary - actually based on Android #18 from Dragonball. I did not know this prior to typing this one out. Thank you, Wikipedia! Her father was killed in the line of duty protecting the President, so now she works as an agent to honor his memory. So original, yo.

Mai Shiranui - everyone's favorite bouncer. But for purposes to keep this page particularly wholesome (paperheroes.net shall be your better ource of writing smut instead) no boobs were created nor harmed in the creation of this doll.

Terry Bogard - Back then (until today, probably) the Japanese stereotype for American males. If the Japanese stereotype for American males also indicate that the latter develops their fighting techniques on the streets, have parents who have been killed by someone named geese, who  perhaps have  the most villainous, fowlest name ever (*rimshot*) and has a pet monkey. No, not that monkey.

[Deadcraft.Com]: Twilight - Jacob Black Doll (Taylor Lautner and Werewolf version) I made a Jacob Black doll not too long ago long before New Moon was shot, quite awhile before even Twilight came out. Since he'd always been depicted as having long hair, especially with most of the Japanese manga versions that soon came out, my little Jacob had his long happy luxurious mane. Since New Moon ha pretty much established that Taylor Lautner's Jacob Black shall be sporting the short cropped hair version, I endeavored to change his hairtstyle up a bit:

[Deadcraft.Com]: Magic Knight Rayearth: Hikaru Shido and Lantis Dolls CLAMP is easily a great place to start when you would like to delive into anime for the first time. Magic-users and multidimensional planets coupled with cute outfits and antropomorphical bunnies are often a part of their formula. Here's two characters from one of CLAMP most well-loved works, Magic Knight Rayearth: couple Hikaru Shido (in a traditional Japanese kendo outfit as requested by the customer) and Lantis (in his white knight manga version garb)

Sackboy, the character from the PS3 videogame, LittleBigPlanet, has become so popular that I thought he'd make a nice gift for our nephew, Matt, who is a collector.

I finished my version of Sackboy for Matt recently (knit without a pattern, as usual), and presented him for his birthday.

Voila!  Sackboy Peep:

I just barely finished in time!!   Boy was it a pain to put that working zipper in!  And I hate sewing things!  ;o)   I'm even MORE impressed with all of the amazing Sackboy's that folks have been creating after making one myself!

I used my loopy legs (flap) technique to make the mouth so I wouldn't have to sew it on.  And it worked great!  :o)

My Hub and I both liked him better before I added the decorative grey stitching, but for Matt, I wanted to be as accurate as I could, since he's a collector.  I did leave off the two vertical lines at the back of his head.  Just didn't like 'em.  But I told Matt that I'd put them in if he'd like them - and guess what... he told me last night that he WOULD!  Yep... a collector!  heh heh  So Sackboy Peep will be coming back for some cosmetic surgery!  ;o)

My Hub  is totally crazy about him, and REALLY wants me to make another one for him!  Well.... actually, he said to make another one for Matt and he'll just keep this one!!  ha ha ha!  He wouldn't do that, of course, but he just fell in love with him.

He has a working zipper, and I made a felt inner body so he could be opened. (ugh!  That was a pain! And my Hub wants me to do this AGAIN!!!)  When you open his zipper, you can see his little golden heart (a stone bead that's gold with a brownish edging).  :o)

I've seen so many Sackboys that other folks have made (including the Alan Dart pattern) wearing a pom pom hat and scarf, that I figured that they must be something that Sackboy wears, so I made him a set.  We recently got the game (incredibly adorable and FUN!), but I haven't seen the hat and scarf yet.  So I dunno.  But here's

I finished his little vest (with very poorly made emblem) just in the nick of time, and my Hub and I are so pleased with it.   It's made like a little bib!  heh heh   I'm really happy I managed to squeeze in making it before Matt's birthday.

The beautiful green yarn is Bamboo Soft Spell and Bamboo Charmed from www.yarncloud.com! It's a chainette yarn, and sooo nice to work with!  Nice sheen, gorgeous colors, and has all those nice bamboo properties!  :o)

which I'm absolutely nuts about!  If we were meanies, my Hub would keep the peep and I'd keep the Lantern Battery!!  ;o)  I put 4 golden dollar coins in the bottom to weight it (they were just the right size - and makes the battery even more valuable and powerful -  heh heh) and a chenille stem in the handle to give it strength and body.
        

It was fun taking a trip down comic book memory lane!  :o)

In light of the fact that in the Philippines, elections are coming up the following year, expected to be marred by instances of corruption and cheating as it has been almost every election since President Marcos' term during the 70s, it seems like Filipinos need to band together, unite and finally choose a presidentiable who embodies the same traits and principles Ninoy Aquino had. Oddly enough, suggested / requested by my dad.

[Deadcraft.Com]: Fullmetal Alchemist - Envy and Roy Mustang Yet one more doll in the line of lovable bad guys and the awesome protagonists that pwn them! FYI, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is just as amazing as the original first season of Fullmetal Alchemist and its movie Conqueror of Shambala. Can Hiromu Arakawa be any more talented? The only Fullmetal Alchemist dolls I've made so far are the Homunculus, Envy, and everyone's favorite colonel, Roy Mustang. I can pretty much foresee myself attempting a full HagaRen roster sometime soon, although thinking about how to do Al in his armored form feels a little daunting.

[Deadcraft.Com]: Fatal Fury - Terry Bogard I have to admit that I am not a big fan of fighting games - I hate all the button mashing and numerous buttons needed just to deliver some outstanding uppercut that, when giving the right timing to, would probably be blocked anyway. And I always have had horrible timing. Having a boyfriend who is fairly hooked on the whole King of Fighter and Fatal Fury though, has made sure that I am at least moderately familiar with most of the characters of the franchise. Tp date though, Terry Bogard is still the first KoF / FF character I've made!
